{"id":7346,"date":"2018-03-15T14:34:08","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T12:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/betam.bahcesehir.edu.tr\/?p=7346\/"},"modified":"2018-03-15T14:34:08","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T12:34:08","slug":"labor-market-outlook-march-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/betam.bahcesehir.edu.tr\/en\/2018\/03\/labor-market-outlook-march-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor Market Outlook: March 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>DECREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT CONTINUES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Seyfettin G\u00fcrsel, G\u00f6k\u00e7e Uysal\u00a0and Yazg\u0131 Gen\u00e7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#_ftnref1\" name=\"_ftn1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seasonally adjusted labor market data show that non-agricultural unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points in the period of December reaching 11.8 percent. \u00a0It is worthy to note that in recent past the highest level in unemployment has been attained in December 2016 at 14.2 percent.\u00a0\u00a0 The reason behind this decrease is the high GDP growth (expected over 7 percent) which leaded strong increases in non-agricultural employment. From November to December employment increased in the services by 13 thousand while employment increase reached 44 thousand in both manufacture and construction sectors. Betam\u2019s forecasting model predicts that the non-agricultural unemployment will decrease to 11.7 percent in the period of January 2018.
